The Helen I. McLean Scholarship was established in honor of my mother, who has been a student of learning all of her life.  Studying has been a life long pursuit of hers; especially concerning the Word of God.  She has been a Sunday school teacher in the Church of God in Christ for well over 40 years, as well as teaching many years for the Young Women Christian Council, and the 5th Illinois Jurisdiction Charles Mason Bible College.

  The recipients of this award should

 * be performing well in the area of Academics,

 * be active in their local church,

 * posses mannerisms becoming of a young adult in accordance with Christian character.
